The Life Story of William "Sonny" Cuesta .
ByRuth Engelken.
"Nobody would call Sonny a cursed dog and getaway with it. He went home, got his stiletto and came back, waiting in the dark for the first guy to leave the party so he could let him have it.
"Then the door opened and a tall, unsteady guy stumbled down the stairs. Sonny, crouched like a mountain lion by the bottom step, lunged at him, gashing an X across his face.
"The next day everybody in the neighborhood was talking about the slashing. When Sonny walked by, neighbors called after him, 'Catkiller! Catkiller!' At last he had earned the recognition he had once coveted'."
But "Sonny" Cuesta soon found that it was redemption, not recognition, that he really sought. And one night, on the edge of suicide, the catkiller became a Christian. Today, the former gang member and addict is the Reverend William Cuesta, an ordained Baptist minister and the founder-director of Life Anew, Inc., of Dayton, Ohio.
