The Caper From Canada
Cape Breton, in Nova Scotia, is known for its fighting men. Rugged men lived along the rugged coasts of Cape Breton. They were heavy drinkers. Often violent. They spent their Sunday afternoons at "Cock Fights". The fighting roosters fought to the death. The men often fought with that same abandon.
Others staged battles to the death between their "Pit Bulls". Monty's father was a champion boxer. He brought that violence into their home. He often beat Monty's mother. She suffered and prayed. Monty hated and despised his father for abusing his mother. Yet he grew up to be just like him, only worse. Alcohol, bootleg whiskey, drugs and crime tilled his life.
He ended up, or down, naked in a cold prison cell. He called on a God he did not know. But God was there. Monty Lewis is one of God?s prime exhibits of II Corinthians 5:17 - "A New Creature".
After being released, Monty Lewis started his own prison ministry, a ministry which is very successful in returning people who have made mistakes in life back into Society.
